5 Things
Creating healthier bodies- for life
“I feel better.”
Clients describe feeling better — both during their treatments and for days after. They also mention that experiencing positive changes echoing throughout their bodies is incredibly satisfying.
Similarly, I often hear people say in the first session, “I feel lighter, and longer. I can breathe more fully, and stand up straighter with less effort“. Upright is not uptight!
"What’s Next?"
The clients that work with us are engaged in the process, and interested in being a part of it. “This is what I have always wanted from my massage therapists, physical therapists, and doctor visits”, is something we regularly hear. The classical ten series is an ideal format to work with and from. The series acts as a syllabus for not only transformation, but education as well. You will not only feel better, but will learn how you got there.
Realizable Goals for Real Life
I notice as soon as I move out of balance, and how that leads to pain. And I have new options for how to manage the pain that does come up.”
As our work progresses we begin to address what you do on a daily basis with direct interventions both while you are on the table, and with practical everyday considerations including patterns of work, exercise, sleep, walking your dog – whatever it is you do with your life. Our work is practical, and our goal is to give you a world-class experience on the table that can easily translate into your day-to-day.
We will come up with realizable goals with clear landmarks of how to establish new patterns of posture and movement. Whether we focus on how you sit at your desk, your form doing bench presses or squats, your training and running style, your standing posture, your yoga practice, or just your everyday self in a body – making the work stick is a team effort worthy of our full attention.
“That feels really good.”
An important part of our job is to develop a working knowledge of your structure so that we can work appropriately. Working deeply and pressing hard just for the sake of saying we did so is not beneficial. Some of your most deeply held stresses may reside right on the surface and other times it settles deeply into the body.
Clients tell me that what we do on the table feels really good. Sometimes the sensations are incredibly relaxing. In other instances we are working to address and transform deeply held stresses and imbalances. We will explore sensation and experience the difference between pain that is leaving, and pain that is held within the body. Together we work to find the balance of what serves you.
When healthy, fluid movement returns to places that have been immobile or out of balance for long periods of time your body will literally experience new sensations – sometimes this is challenging, sometimes this is the best thing that will happen all week.
“What can I do?”
We work together to create a total systems approach based on your needs. We are available. I am qualified to discuss nutrition, exercise, relaxation, mindfulness, yoga, weight-lifting, stretching, physical therapy, acupuncture, and other forms of therapy. We also bring the latest research to our practice. For many clients we act as a wellness coordinator – armed with a team of highly trained physicians and specialists that are available for you. We want to help you to thrive and reach your goals: whether it is to be able to go through a week without that frustrating pain, to release and manage everyday life stresses with more resilience, to finally figure out what is going on, or to maximize your performance. We can help you integrate the facets of wellness that best serve you.
